Dave Again

Dave Again. Dave was out painting for the Paint Out Saint Louis Event. Artists are amazing. They pay for the opportunity to have the back of the panel stamped, then race out and paint, then submit their work for a chance to be in a gallery show, in this case in South Saint Louis and then maybe, hopefully, they'll sell a painting! Where else but the art world does the supplier of the merchandise have to pay the retailer for the privilege of stocking the store?
South Saint Louis

South Saint Louis. Painting near Pestalozzi Street behind the original old Anheuser Bush brewery, which is really quite beautiful, too. Here I am out very early on a Sunday morning looking down Lynch Street. I love the warm light of the morning. It's always subtle, fresh, and delicately tinted.

Bend in the river

The Bend in the River. Last weekend at Indian Creek I took a road I haven't taken in quite awhile. The river has changed and swerved and snakes around. I stopped and tried to capture it doubling back. A beautiful bright day with just a bit of cool in the air. The painting is 6"x12".

Construction

Overpass Construction. There is road construction everywhere around here. I went out and painted at the Olive at I-170 site the other day. It's very nice not to be in the traffic, but instead just watching it snake along. I'll be doing more of these sites as there is major highway construction under way here. The main east west thoroughfare (a good stretch of it) will be completely closed for two years.

IMAGE NAME
Last Summer Weekend. Last weekend was probably the last warm summer-like weekend of the fall. I was painting at the Miles Cemetery. As you can see others were painting there also. Farm land as far as the eye can see, warm light and a bit of the Midwest Haze made for a glorious day of painting. Up on the bluff you feel you're on top of the world. The painting is 8"x10".

JOey's Snooze

Joey's Snooze. I painted this this summer out at Indian Creek. Joey slept in as the morning sun flooded the porch of the cabin. Is it a plein air painting if you paint on the porch?
Boat House

Boat House in Forest Park. I went back to paint at the boat house, hoping I could be understand the color at that time of day. Two months later and everything looks so different. That morning a church group was singing, at the pavillion near by.
