plein air at Old Stable Bridge
I painted at the Old Stable Bridge the weekend before last. Sylvia joined me. Although it looked the remnants of Isaac would continue to drench us, there was no rain. Only a slight breeze. Then the clouds seemed to burn off and it started to get warm. Both 8x10 inches. Oil on canvas on panel.
Both paintings are at auction on eBay.

Last night at the Saint Louis Art Museum Book Club, I heard Molly Peacock discuss her book, The Paper Garden. The book explores Mary Delany's and Molly Peacock's life. Marietta sat next to me. In discussing the book, Marietta said she hadn't finished it yet, but she wished Molly Peacock would just 'butt out.' Doug Holland of the Missouri Botanical Garden provided interesting background and insight inter Mary Delany's botanical collages.
Inspired by Mary Delany I did a collage in today.

Bouquet -Last Class of Botanical Illustration
Botanical Illustration Class ended last Thursday. We arranged flowers bouquets on foam core and then drew from the and photographed them for reference. I drew in class, but didn't get to paint my own as I was also teaching. This is the bouquet I did in my sketchbook. Roses, asparagus leaf, false indigo. Join me for the next class starting on June 28th at the Saint Louis Community College Meramec Campus.

A new poster on Zazzle called Look for a Silver Lining
A watercolor drawing available on Zazzle. Look for Silver Lining is the name of this poster. Thinking positively will get you though a rainy day.
First sledding day in 2011.
The morning of the snowy day I went to the park and sure enough, there were people sledding. There were large patches of green grass under the trees and the snow was barely an inch. By late afternoon, all the snow had melted. The painting is 8x10 inches and was painted on canvas mounted on birch panel.

Winter Snow by the River
This is the second winter painting I recently completed. It measures 8x10 inches. The panel is constructed of canvas mounted on birch wood. It has not been any snow to speak of. A light dusting last week that barely lasted the day.
